Bottle Boards

We will be launching our full schools Bottle Boards program from September 2018; however if you are school near the River Thames and would like to arrange a talk during the Source to Sea journey from 8 June to 28 June, please email supmarathon@gmail.com.

Bottle Boards is an educational workshop building Stand Up Paddleboards out of Plastic Bottles for schools and communities around the world, for people aged 8 to 80!  Whether you are in a school or you live in a community by water; whether you want to have fun, start a SUP business or build an emergency raft in a flood zone, we would love to teach you how to build a bottle board.

SUP is a sport that enables people to connect with nature and there is no coincidence that it is fast becoming associated with protecting the environment because when you go paddling you do not want to see pollution. The impact is powerful and will initiate change.

‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ Nelson Mandela

We bring the issue of plastic pollution to the classroom in a fun and positive way, sharing expedition stories and exploring innovative solutions to the problem of single use plastic: by turning waste into a resource; talking about alternatives and encouraging children to think creatively about circular economy design, considering the whole life cycle of a product and its impact on the environment.

Through BOTTLE BOARDS we want to help people to connect to nature, to themselves and to others.  When you do a physical activity you become present; you forget the stresses of life and feel happy in the moment.  We live in a society surrounded by noise and distraction, many of us are addicted to technology, isolating ourselves from the real world and as a result depression and obesity are on the rise.  We want to encourage you to take time out and find some space for yourself.  Paddling is a great exercise which raises the endorphins in your body and makes you feel good!  We bring communities together to build boards.  Doing an activity in a group teaches patience, communication and teamwork.

Connect to Nature

Connect to Yourself
